Jesus told His disciples “And you will be my witnesses…”. Through missions we have an opportunity to share God’s message of love and hope with our world. Here are a few of the ways people are involved in mission at First Baptist Church Portland.

Local Missions

People are involved in missions in a variety of ways.  Opportunities include ministering to young adults at Shoreline Recovery and jail ministry at the San Patricio County Jail.  In addition we partner together with churches and ministries as well. Some recent and ongoing partnerships include San Patricio County Cowboy Church, Communities in Schools, The Station (a church for the homeless in Corpus Christi), The Salvation Army Food Bank, the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission, Grace House, Corpus Christi Crisis Pregnancy Resource Center, and the Baptist Student Ministry.

Area Missions

We partner with other churches in our area through Blanco Baptist Association to support mission endeavors throughout South Texas.

State Missions

We cooperate with the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Southern Baptist of Texas Convention in a variety of ministries throughout Texas.

National and International Missions

We cooperate with the Southern Baptist Convention in sharing God’s love with all of North America.

We partner with Way of Life, India in supporting a church planting movement in the Nadia District of India.  Teams go periodically to provide training and support for our partners.

World Missions Offering

Like anything else, missions efforts take financial support. Throughout the year our members and regular attendees give to support missions efforts here in Portland and around the world.
